
Strickland Named CUSA Freshman of the Week

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Liberty redshirt freshman infielder Maci Strickland has been named Conference USA Softball Freshman of the Week, announced Monday.
A native of Dallas, Ga., Strickland earns her second CUSA Freshman of the Week honor of the season. She is the first Lady Flame to be named CUSA Freshman of the Week twice in the same season since Kaylan Yoder in 2024.
Strickland continued her fantastic freshman season, batting .385 (5-for-13) with a double, homer and four RBI, a .429 OBP and .692 slugging percentage. She extended her hitting streak to six games with hits in all four games last week.
Strickland went 1-for-3 against No. 10 Virginia Tech on Wednesday. Then on Friday, she batted 1-for-3 with a homer, one RBI and one run scored in a 7-2 win over FIU. On Saturday, she went 2-for-3 with a double, one RBI and one run scored.
During Sunday's 6-5 comeback win over FIU, she batted 1-for-4 with two RBI. Her two-out, two-run single gave Liberty a 2-0 lead in the top of the first.
The Lady Flames (22-23) head to Blacksburg, Va., on Wednesday to face No. 10 Virginia Tech, with first pitch set for 6 p.m. at Tech Softball Park.
