
Joy Posts Top 10 Finish at Lewis Chitengwa Memorial

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Liberty's Ike Joy is heading into the postseason on the heels of his best showing of the year after an eighth-place finish at the Lewis Chitengwa Memorial.
The graduate student used four birdies and an eagle during the final round at the Birdwood Golf Course (par 72, 7,116 yards) to sign for a 7-under par 206 (68-71-67).
The tournament finish was the lowest 54-hole total of his final season with the Flames and matched his tie for eighth place at the Michael A. Marino Classic (March 15-17).
As a squad, Liberty carded its second lowest 18-hole team score of the 2025-26 season with an 8-under par 276 on Tuesday. Overall, Liberty finished the event in eighth place with a 2-under par 850 (282-292-276).
All nine members of Liberty's roster competed in the event – five starters and four individuals. Three of the Flames' four individuals posted top-30 finishes.
Silas Haarer finished tied for 14th place with a 4-under par 209 (69-69-71), while Luke Libbey (69-68-76) and Blake Hogan (75-66-72) both finished the event tied for 29th place with an even par 213.
The 12-team event featured five teams currently ranked inside the top 50 of the latest national rankings, with all five teams taking the top five spots in the tournament.
Host and No. 2 ranked Virginia won on its home course, posting a victorious score of 39-under par 813 (277-269-267).
No. 25 Florida State took home second place with a 26-under par 826 (268-284-274), followed by No. 45 SMU's 23-under par 829 (279-271-279). No. 14 Tennessee finished in fourth place with a 20-under par 832 (272-280-280), while No. 21 Charlotte posted a 17-under par 835 (279-285-271).
The tournament served as Liberty's final event before the Flames contest for a conference title at the 2026 Conference USA Men's Golf Championships.
The four-day event, which includes two rounds of match play, will be contested at Texarkana Country Club in Texarkana, Ark., April 27-30.
