Lady Flames Win 4 Dennis Craddock Events on Saturday

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Liberty took home four event victories on Saturday at the Dennis Craddock Coaches Classic, bringing its two-day total to 10 first-place finishes at the meet hosted by the University of Lynchburg.
Saturday's victors were all Lady Flames, including two over barriers (Adelle Schlotterback – women's 400 hurdles – 1:01.89 and Sophia Mast – women's steeplechase – 11:28.81) and two in the throws (Tabby DeJong – women's shot put – 41-10.5 and Bethany Tate – women's discus – 151-3).
Women's Day 2 Recap
Schlotterback's 1:01.89 trimmed two seconds off her previous 400 hurdles best, earning the freshman's first career individual event victory.
Mast (11:28.81) stood atop the women's steeplechase podium for the first time in her career, leading a 1-2-3 Liberty sweep. She was followed across the finish line by teammates Gracelyn Laudermilch (11:51.88) and Anna Fletcher (11:54.98), with Fletcher making her first attempt at the event.
DeJong (41-10.5) was yet another first-time event champion, claiming the women's shot put honors by nearly two feet in the final field event of a warm, sunny afternoon.
Tate (151-3) and freshman teammate Ellie Stine (143-9) repeated their 1-2 women's discus showing from the Dr. Jack M. Toms Alumni Invitational, contested two weeks ago at the same facility.
After winning Friday's women's long jump competition, freshman Mackenzie Boggess was the women's triple jump runner-up on Saturday with a 37-10.75 leap.
Freshman Mia Lee-Bowens clocked a season-best 14.72 into a significant headwind to win her women's 100 hurdles heat and place fourth overall in the event.
Men's Day 2 Recap
Trevor Veenstra heaved the discus a personal-best 172-6 to finish second behind former Flames All-American Kevin Nedrick (189-6). It marked the sophomore's second runner-up showing in as many days, following his successful hammer debut (196-6) from Friday.
Decathlete Hunter Bleam followed in fifth place with his discus mark of 145-5 and later took seventh in the men's shot put with an outdoor personal-best 45-1.5 performance.
Redshirt freshman Wallace Tupper II clocked 55.98 for runner-up honors in the men's 400 hurdles.
Ethan Stansbury finished a team-best sixth out of 68 men's 800 runners in 1:54.46, backing up his third-place showing from Friday's Frank Csorba Invitational Mile (4:10.19).
Competing unattached, Zane Lindquist made a successful steeplechase debut. He won the event in 9:50.33.
