Schlenker Posts CUSA-Leading and Personal-Best 10:06.44 Steeplechase

AZUSA, Calif. – Katrina Schlenker led the way for Liberty on Thursday, the opening day of the Bryan Clay Invitational at Cougar Athletic Stadium. The senior's 10:06.44 steeplechase clocking claimed the CUSA lead and increased her hold on the No. 2 spot in program history.
Women's Day 1 Recap
Schlenker, who entered the season with a 10:15.75 steeplechase best, has now improved to 10:10.54 at the Raleigh Relays and 10:06.44 on Thursday in California. Her latest effort was good for fourth place (second collegiate) in the steeplechase's first invitational section and overtook Kennesaw State's Madison Seiler for the conference lead.
Contesting the steeplechase for just the second time in her career, Rachel Hill trimmed her personal best to 10:45.32 and climbed to No. 6 in program history.
Isabela Ross competed in the morning's opening race, a women's 10K section which began at 7 a.m. local time. She clocked a 35:55.27 for a new season best.
Men's Day 1 Recap
Dale Hall and Sean Aiken opened the week as CUSA's two fastest steeplechase runners of 2026 and did nothing to harm that Thursday afternoon, both posting big season-best times. Hall's 9:00.61 clocking was just a second off his lifetime best, while Aiken lowered his steeplechase personal best from 9:18.00 to 9:09.03.
Two runners on opposite ends of the experience spectrum clocked solid 10Ks for the Flames Thursday morning. Redshirt senior Nicholas Kiprotich, the 2024 CUSA 10K champion, ran 30:14.33 in his first 10K of 2026. A couple hours later, redshirt freshman Andrew Schultz posted a 30:41.22 for his track 10K debut.
