Student-Athlete Q&A
What made Liberty University the right place for you to attend college/compete at the collegiate level?
At first, I was a little nervous about going on my recruiting visit because I knew going to Liberty would mean leaving my family, friends, church, and the life I had always known back in Oklahoma, which is over 15 hours away. However, after meeting the coach and my future teammates, I knew I wanted to be here for the next four years of my life. Even on the flight home, I remember telling my mom I couldn't wait to go back. I was so excited to be in such an amazing environment with the right people who are all chasing after the same goal, glorifying our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!
Is there anything special you do pregame or postgame and why?
I write down my favorite verse, Romans 15:13. Then I listen to worship music and pray as I warm up. Being in God's presence not only provides me with peace but also gives me strength and joy to go compete to the best of my ability to honor God!
Who in your life inspires you and why are they such an inspiration?
The cliche answer would be my parents, because they have taught me so much about hard work, discipline, and making sacrifices to fully pursue God. However, on a bit of a sad note, I would have to say my grandfather who passed away a few years ago. He is my inspiration because every person who ever did business with him, was friends with him, or just knew him in passing, could only speak highly of him. He was extremely generous, consistently obedient to the Holy Spirit, and was a living example of what a true disciple of Jesus looks like when walked out with such grace and humility. He left a legacy of being such a genuine person. Even now years after his death, people still come up to me as his granddaughter and say they were friends with Brad Stine (my poppy) and then proceed to tell a story about his generosity, kindness, or willingness to step in when they needed him!
What is your most memorable athletic moment/accomplishment?
My most memorable accomplishment would be winning State my senior year. I had been leading in my class division all year and was ranked number one in the state. Yet, that wasn't what made it fun. I remember getting to compete with my teammates, cheer them on, and pray for them before they competed. I knew I was prepared and that the Lord was with me, so I knew I would be able to take care of my part. And that gave me the opportunity to encourage everyone else around me to do their best and show them the peace I had they could have too!
Favorite meal (breakfast/lunch/dinner) and what is that special meal?
I love a good breakfast. Any type of breakfast burrito or sandwich is my favorite, especially when it has eggs, bacon, avocado, cheese, and really anything and everything!
What is the first app you check on your phone each day?
Probably Messages to make sure my parents don't need anything.
What is your favorite hobby outside of athletics?
Car rides with friends! I love sitting in a parking lot and talking for hours!
Do you have any current pets (name and type of animal)?
I have a goldendoodle dog that I unfortunately can't take to college with me. Her name is Bentley, and she is the sweetest!
What is your favorite possession and why?
My Bible, I've had it since I was a kid and it definitely needs to be replaced, but it has so many good notes inside from preachers or just the Holy Spirit dropping little pieces of wisdom into my heart over the years!
What is your go-to karaoke song?
Whatever song my friends want to sing!
What is your dream vacation spot and why?
Somewhere with lots of adventurous things to do. And I must go with my friends! I want to try everything, skiing, snowboarding, parasailing, bungee jumping, surfing, skydiving, really anything!
