Lacrosse Opens ASUN Play at Lindenwood, Austin Peay

LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Liberty women's lacrosse team (2-5) enters the next stage of its title defense, opening Atlantic Sun action on the road at Lindenwood (3-5) on Thursday and at newcomer, Austin Peay (4-5), on Saturday. Saturday's contest will be streamed live on ESPN+, with Thursday set for a 1 p.m. ET/noon CT first draw and Saturday's tilt set for an 11:30 a.m. ET/10:30 a.m. CT start.

- Sophia Nesci, a freshman, leads Liberty in all scoring categories with 14 goals, nine assists and 23 points. She has scored at least one goal in every game this season. The attacker has netted eight goals in her last three games.
- Her 23 points (3.28 PPG) through seven games are the most for a freshman in program history since 2022 (Cami Merkel, 13) and behind 2015's freshman record (Katy Pridemore, 22). Nesci's points per game (3.16) trails just behind Pridemore's freshman record pace (3.4 PPG, 52 g, 68 p).
- Midfielder Katie Colavito has made an impact at every level of the field. She leads the team with 15 caused turnovers and 17 ground balls, while ranking second on the team with 13 goals and 14 points.
- Goalkeeper Rachel Hines (2-5) has held firm in the crease, ranking No. 14 in the country with 9.29 saves per game. She sports a 13.32 goals-against average and a .417 save percentage. The junior has recorded at least eight saves in four games this season.
- Liberty leads the country with 17.00 caused turnovers per game. They rank No. 4 nationally with 20.43 ground balls per game.
- The Lady Flames rank No. 49 nationally with a .481 (13-of-27) conversion rate on free-position attempts. Nesci leads the squad with a 4-of-6 mark in eight-meter opportunities.
- Liberty most recently held a 2-5 record in 2023, when the team rallied late in conference play to finish with a 12-7 record (7-0 ASUN).
