
Overcash Earns 2nd Straight CUSA Offensive Player of the Week Honor

For the second week in a row, Liberty sophomore right-side hitter Paige Overcash has been named Conference USA Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week.
Hailing from Ashe County, N.C., Overcash earns her second career conference player of the week honor, with both coming within the first two weeks of this season. She is the first Conference USA volleyball player to be named CUSA Offensive Player of the Week in back-to-back weeks since Middle Tennessee's Adri Rhoda, Oct. 30 and Nov. 6, 2023. Overcash is the first Lady Flame since Caroline Douglas (Sept. 29 and Oct. 6 – Big South) with back-to-back conference player of the week awards.
Overcash continued to produce at an impressive clip in a Power Four environment, averaging a team-high 3.67 kills per set at a .410 pace as Liberty went 2-1 at the West Virginia Invitational.
On Thursday, she scored a career-high 21 kills in a 3-2 win over Coppin State, hitting .436 for the match. She scored six kills in both the first and second sets and had two key kills on three swings in the fifth-set win.
During Friday's match against West Virginia, Overcash helped Liberty outhit a powerful Mountaineers attack, .346-.345. Overcash scored 14 kills at a .267 pace for the match. Then on Saturday, she tied for the team lead with nine kills and needed just 14 attempts, hitting an impressive .643 in the 3-0 Liberty sweep.Â
So far this season, Overcash leads all CUSA players with a .435 hitting percentage.
The Lady Flames (5-1) will play in the William & Mary Invitational, Friday and Saturday in Williamsburg, Va. While there, Liberty will face Norfolk State, East Carolina and William & Mary. Â
