TULSA, Okla. – Three Flames, headlined by Carl Roothman (3-2), finished play at the ITA All-American Championships to begin the fall season. All three Flames, including Siwanat Auytayakul and Rodrigo Santiago Arraez, began play in the pre-qualifying singles round. Roothman was the only athlete to advance to the qualifying round.
Liberty finished 4-5 overall and 4-3 in the pre-qualifying singles round. No Flames participated in doubles at the event.
In the singles pre-qualifying round, each athlete needed at least three singles wins to advance. Carl Roothman opened play against Chase Thompson with a pair of 6-4, 6-4 sets. The next day, the senior topped Clemson's Manuel Plunger in a comeback effort 2-6, 6-3, 6-4. Roothman played a second match that day with his opponent, Daniel Phillips from Tulane, retiring in the second set while Roothman was leading 7-5, 3-0.
In the qualifying round, the Stellenbosch, South Africa native was paired against No. 8 seed, Ohio State's Jack Anthrop. Despite a tightly contested first set, the Flame fell 6-4, 6-0.
