
Mwamba to Transfer to Liberty WBB

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Lydie Mwamba, a wing player who originally hails from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, is set to transfer from New Mexico to Liberty for the 2025-26 academic year.
Mwamba is the Lady Flames' second incoming transfer for the upcoming season, joining JaKayla Thompson (Boston College).
Additionally, Mwamba is the team's fourth international player slated to join the 2025-26 roster, also including Zeynep Avci (Turkey), Emma Leon (Spain) and Lynn Peters (Netherlands).
Lydie Mwamba (G/F, 5-11, Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo)
Mwamba spent the 2024-25 season at New Mexico, appearing in 12 games for the Lobos. She averaged 3.0 ppg and 1.7 rpg with season highs of eight points and six boards. Seven of Mwamba's 12 made field goals came from beyond the three-point arc, where she connected at a 41.2 percent clip.
Mwamba previously played two seasons at Trinity Valley Community College. She excelled as a sophomore in 2023-24, earning NJCAA second team All-America honors. Mwamba posted 16.9 ppg and 6.8 rpg, helping her team go 26-7 and reach the second round of the NJCAA Tournament.
