Liberty seniors Rachel Roupe and Savannah Woodard along with junior Brynn McManus and sophomore Paige Doerr, have all been named to the 2025 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Softball Team®, as announced today by the College Sports Communicators (CSC).
To earn inclusion on the team, a student-athlete must have played in at least 90 percent of their team's games (pitchers need 17 appearances or 25 innings pitched) and have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average.
As a result of their inclusion on the academic all-district team, they will now appear on the ballot for the 2025 College Sports Communicators Academic All-America Softball Team®. The first-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced on June 18.
Liberty has now received 23 CSC Academic All-District® honors in program history. Megan Robinson was the first Academic All-America® recipient in program history, being named to the first team in 2015 and earning third-team honors in 2014. Caroline Hudson was named Academic All-America® third team in 2023.
Roupe is the first three-time Academic All-District honoree in program history. Woodard, McManus and Doerr all receive their first Academic All-District honors.
Doerr (Law & Policy: Pre-Law) and Woodard (MS: Exercise Science & Wellness: Fitness & Performance) both hold a 4.0 GPA. Roupe (Public Health: Pre-Clinical) boasts a 3.84 GPA, while McManus' (Business Administration & Data Analysis: Finance) GPA is 3.76.
A native of Warrior, Ala., Woodard finished her six-year collegiate softball career with her best season. After missing the 2024 campaign due to injury, Woodard thrived in the leadoff role this season. She batted .349 with 12 doubles, 11 homers, 46 RBI while tying for the team lead in both hits (76) and runs scored (58). Woodard led off a game with a homer a program-record five times this season, including once each in the CUSA Tournament, NCAA Bryan-College Station Regional and NCAA Eugene Super Regional.
Hailing from Sharpsburg, Md., Roupe has been named a second team All-American by both Softball America and D1Softball.com. Roupe batted .390 with 19 doubles while setting new program records in single-season homers (23), RBI (73) and extra-base hits (43). She helped the Lady Flames make history by earning their first-ever Super Regional berth. In two games against the top-ranked Aggies on May 18, Roupe went a combined 5-for-9 with three homers, nine RBI and three runs scored. That included two homers in the winner-take-all final.
McManus, a native of McMinnville, Ore., made a major impact in the middle of the order as a designated player. She hit .320 with 15 doubles, nine homers and 45 RBI, ranking second on the team in doubles and third in both homers and RBI. The junior hit a homer in the NCAA Bryan-College Station Regional opener against Marist. McManus was named to the CUSA All-Conference first team. For the season, she recorded 17 multiple-hit games, including three three-hit contests, while also recording 13 multiple-RBI games. She had her first career two-homer game on May 3 against FIU, driving in three runs.
Doerr, hailing from Coburg, Ore., played a key role in Liberty's postseason run during her first season since transferring from Oregon State. Overall, she batted .346 with nine doubles, three homers and 31 RBI. Doerr was named to the CUSA All-Tournament Team, as she had five RBI at the CUSA Softball Championship, including a walk-off RBI single to send Liberty to the title game. Doerr led the Lady Flames with 13 RBI in the 10 games following the regular season (including CUSA Softball Championship, NCAA Regional and NCAA Super Regional). She had at least one RBI in eight out of 10 of Liberty's postseason games.
The Lady Flames finished the season with a 50-15 record, setting a new program record for single-season victories. Liberty won both the Conference USA regular-season and tournament titles for the second year in a row. The team made history at the 2025 NCAA Bryan-College Station Regional, winning two out of three games against No. 1 Texas A&M to earn its first-ever Super Regional appearance. The Lady Flames were the first team in the Super Regional era to knock out the No. 1 national seed in the Regional round.
