4/9/2025 1:34:00 PM | Track and Field
LYNCHBURG, Va. – Liberty will divide its track & field athletes between two different meets again this week. Five decathletes and heptathletes will get things started at the Duke Invitational (Thursday and Friday). A larger group of Flames and Lady Flames will remain in Lynchburg for the Dennis Craddock Coaches Classic (Friday and Saturday at the University of Lynchburg).
How to Follow the Flames and Lady Flames
Live video will be available on ACC Network Extra for the Duke Invitational and on YouTube throughout the Dennis Craddock Coaches Classic.
Live results will be provided for both meets, courtesy of Flash Results (Duke Invitational) and Blue Ridge Timing (Dennis Craddock Coaches Classic).
Weather Report
The Duke Invitational's weather forecast calls for high temperatures in the 60s both days with rain stretching from Thursday evening through Friday afternoon.
Lynchburg's forecast projects highs in the mid-50s for Friday and Saturday with rain expected for Friday.
From Indoor to Outdoor
All five of Liberty's athletes slated to compete at Duke enjoyed successful 2024-25 indoor campaigns, including decathletes Gabriel Willis and Samuel O'Regan and heptathletes Meredith Engle, Patasha Bryan and Paige Greenhagel.
Willis, who won the CUSA heptathlon title with a personal-best score of 5,421, will make his decathlon debut.
Engle earned second team All-America honors with a 12th-place NCAA pentathlon finish. She also scored a program-record 4,196 points to capture the CUSA pentathlon title. Engle will compete in her first heptathlon since posting a third-place finish at the 2023 ASUN Championship.
Bryan is the defending CUSA heptathlon champion. Next month, she will attempt to become the conference's first back-to-back heptathlon victor since 2016 and 2017 (Middle Tennessee's Elizabeth Dadzie).
Go the Distance
The Dennis Craddock Coaches Classic will feature a distance-heavy schedule on Friday, headlined by the inaugural Frank Csorba Invitational Mile (women at 7:10 p.m. and men at 7:25 p.m.) Csorba was an All-American distance runner for Lynchburg before he tragically passed away in April 2024 at the age of 23. Liberty will be well represented with 10 women's entries and three men's entries.
After 10 Lady Flames ran sub-5:00 miles during the indoor season, a group including Sophia Park, Raini Mayo and Emily Atha, among others, will look to join the sub-5:00 club for the first time on Friday. Meanwhile, Catherine Farrell is set for her first track race since placing seventh in the ASUN 1,500 final on May 13, 2023.
