Liberty Run-Rules MTSU to Sweep CUSA Series

LYNCHBURG, VA. – The Liberty Flames hit seven home runs to romp past the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders 12-2 in eight innings to sweep the Conference USA series Sunday afternoon at Worthington Field at Liberty Baseball Stadium.
Landon Scilley hit two home runs, his second and third of the season, and drove in three runs in the contest. Callum Early (second), Tanner Marsh (first), Jaxon Sorenson (10th), Nick Barone (seventh) and Troyer (seventh) joined Scilley with a home run in the contest.
Liberty scored in six of the eight innings in the game, striking for five runs in the sixth to take a commanding 11-2 lead.
The Flames run-ruled the Blue Raiders for the second time in the series. Liberty won the series opener on Friday, 13-3 in eight innings.
Liberty moves to 5-4 in CUSA and 22-11 overall. Middle Tennessee falls to 2-7 in conference and 15-16 overall.
