Joy Selected as Individual for NCAA Amherst Regional
4/30/2025 6:56:00โฏPM | Men's Golf
Following a stellar season for the Flames, Liberty's Ike Joy has been selected to compete as an individual at the NCAA Amherst Regional.
ย ย ย ย ย
Unlike in year's past where Liberty has had to travel as far as the West Coast for NCAA Men's Golf Regional play, Joy will get to experience the postseason much closer to home.
ย ย ย ย ย
Liberty University is one of the six hosts for this year's NCAA Men's Golf Regional. The Flames will be hosting some of the best players in the country at the Poplar Grove Golf Club in Amherst, Va., May 12-14.
ย ย ย ย ย
Joy enters the NCAA Amherst Regional on the heels of his best season at Liberty. The redshirt junior currently leads the Flames with a 71.08 season stroke average, which lowered his career stroke average to 72.56.
ย ย ย ย ย
The native of Denver, N.C., has played 15-of-24 rounds at par or better (62.5 percent) and has posted eight sub-70 rounds during the 2024-25 campaign.
ย ย ย ย ย
Joy paced Liberty during stroke play at the CUSA Men's Golf Championship. He finished in second place with a 7-under par 209 (68-71-70) where he took second place.
ย ย ย ย ย
Joy missed a putt on the 18th hole of Round 3 where he could have forced a playoff with New Mexico State's Aidan Thomas for conference championship medalist honors.
ย ย ย ย ย
This will be Joy's second NCAA Regional experience. Last year, Joy finished tied for 47th place with a 4-over par 214 (72-71-71) at the NCAA Stanford Regional at the Stanford Golf Course (par 70, 6,727 yards) in Stanford, Calif.
ย
With the NCAA Regional selection, Joy keeps a streak alive for the Flames. Liberty has had an individual or team participate in NCAA Regional play each year since 2009.
ย
Joy becomes the fourth golfer in school history to individually qualify for an NCAA Regional. He joins Liberty Athletics Hall of Famer Robert Karlsson (2009 and 2010), Max McKay (2010) and Isaiah Logue (2015) as individuals who have qualified for NCAA Regional play.
ย
Joy will need to finish as the low individual not on an advancing team at the NCAA Amherst Regional to advance to the 2025 NCAA Men's Golf Championship, held at the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, Calif., May 23-28.
