
No. 5 Liberty Set to Host CUSA Championship, Open Against No. 4 Kennesaw State

LYNCHBURG, Va. – The No. 5 seed Liberty Lady Flames tennis team (11-12, 5-2 CUSA) is set to open play, hosting the 2025 Conference USA Women's Tennis Championship, taking on No. 4 seed Kennesaw State (7-7, 1-2 CUSA) on Thursday at 10 a.m.
Lynchburg, Va. and the Liberty Tennis Complex serves as the host site for both the 2025 CUSA Women's and Men's Tennis Championship (April 16-20).
Liberty finished CUSA regular season action last week with a 4-2 loss at Louisiana Tech on Friday and a 4-0 triumph at Sam Houston. The Lady Flames picked up regular season triumphs over No. 2 seed Middle Tennessee (4-1) and No. 6 seed Western Kentucky (4-1).
Last season, the No. 2 seed Lady Flames finished the 2024 CUSA Championship as runners-up, falling to No. 1 seed FIU 4-1 in the final. The Panthers return this year as the No. 1 seed and will face the winner of Thursday's meeting between Liberty and Kennesaw State.

Lady Flames News & Notes
- In head coach Dash Connell's first season at Liberty, the Lady Flames have leaned into the youth movement. The team returned three players with four true freshmen on the roster. There are no upperclassmen on the 2024-25 roster.
- The Lady Flames returned redshirt sophomore Daniella O'Neill and sophomores Maria Turchetto and Sadie Daavettila. Liberty welcomes Yoanna Radulova, Yu-Yun Chen, Anika Lemus and Celina Joseph.
- 72 of Liberty's 111 singles results (0.649 percent) were completed by true freshman. 38 of the Lady Flames' 52 singles victories (0.731) percent from true freshmen.
- Liberty's No. 1 doubles pair of O'Neill and Turchetto were honored with back-to-back CUSA Doubles Pair of the Week selections (March 26, April 2).
- Since moving to the No. 3 singles position, O'Neill has compiled a 4-0 record in the position, all within CUSA competition.
- After moving to the No. 1 singles position, Radulova has collected a 2-5 mark but has had five matches go unfinished including four CUSA matches.
- Celina Joseph enters the tournament with a five-match singles winning streak. She holds a 10-10 record after beginning the season with a 4-8 record.
