Lady Flames Close Regular Season with Quick 4-0 Win at Sam Houston

HUNTSVILLE, Texas – Liberty (11-12, 5-2 CUSA) swept Sam Houston (5-11, 0-7 CUSA) 4-0 to close out the Conference USA and regular season on the road Sunday morning.
The Lady Flames swiftly earned the doubles point with a dominant 6-1 triumph on court six and a swift 6-3 victory on court one. Liberty led 4-3 in the No. 2 doubles match when the point was secured.
Liberty led 2-0 entering singles as Sam Houston had to forfeit the No. 6 singles match. Daniella O'Neill built the lead to 3-0 with a 6-1, 6-4 win on court three. Anika Lemus secured the match-winning fourth point with a 6-3, 6-0 takedown of Ella Fitcher in the No. 5 singles match.
The Lady Flames improve to 5-2 in CUSA and pick up its second win in as many matches against the Bearkats.
Three courts went unfinished with Liberty winning the first set on all three. Maria Turchetto was leading 5-4 in the second set on court four while Yu-Yun Chen was ahead 5-2 on court two. Yoanna Radulova battled to a tiebreak first-set win in the No. 1 singles match.
Lynchburg, Va. serves as the host site for the CUSA Women's and Men's Tennis Championships. The women's tournament begins with two matches on Wednesday at 10 a.m. from the Liberty Tennis Complex and runs through Saturday.
