Mylin, Watts Sweep Dennis Craddock Javelin Titles

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Liberty's Ethan Mylin and Addilae Watts got the Dennis Craddock Coaches Classic off to a strong start on a damp Friday at Dr. Jack M. Toms Track, sweeping the men's and women's javelin titles.
Women's Day 1 Recap
Watts' first victory of the season came in dominating fashion. The junior's season-best 160-1 javelin effort in round two far outdistanced runner-up Katya Hoover of Shenandoah (113-8).
Freshman Grace Chelberg slashed 12 seconds off her 1,500 personal best to claim runner-up honors in 4:57.06. Teammate Samantha Troup was close behind in fourth place, posting a season-best 4:58.26.
The Lady Flames finished 3-4-5-6-7 in one of the evening's featured events, the inaugural Frank Csorba Invitational Mile. Sophia Park led the group in third at 5:01.88, followed in close succession by Catherine Farrell (5:02.70 in her first race since November 2023), Raini Mayo (5:02.88), Reagan Underwood (5:03.12) and Emily Atha (5:03.45).
Freshman Jessica Cox improved her personal best by nearly 20 seconds to claim fifth place in the invitational women's 5K, finishing in 18:10.91. Liberty alum Noel Palmer recorded a decisive victory in 17:13.10.
Men's Day 1 Recap
In just his third meet back from injury, Mylin recorded his first men's javelin triumph since capturing the 2023 ASUN title. Mylin's best throw on Friday measured 186-9, winning the event by 15 feet.
Graham Mussmon won his heat of the Frank Csorba Invitational Mile and took 10th place overall in 4:16.64, his fastest mile performance in two years.
