
Liberty Takes a Thriller over Delaware 4-3

LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Liberty Flames men's tennis team came back from down 2-3 to steal a 4-3 victory over Delaware at home on Friday afternoon.
Liberty snagged the early doubles points with 6-4 triumphs on courts one and two. The Flames were also leading 5-4 on court three when the point was clinched.
Delaware evened the score at 1-1, taking the first singles match on court two 6-0, 6-3. The Flames responded with a two-set triumph from Rodrigo Santiago Arraez, 6-4, 7-5 on court four. Delaware tied the match for a second time with a win at No. 6 singles.
The Blue Hens took a 3-2 match in a near comeback effort in the No. 1 singles match. Joaquim Almeida faced a 5-1 third-set deficit and crawled back to a 5-5 tie, but came up short against Siekanowicz 6-3, 2-6, 6-4.
Chase Robinson evened the match in a contentious battle in the No. 5 singles match. Despite dominating in the first set, Robinson had to battle for three sets, narrowly edging Itamar Tapiro 6-0, 3-6, 6-4.
Moments after Robinson tied the match at 3-3, Siwanat Auytayakul was in a match point against Tobey Lock on court three. The freshman gained the edge in a marathon first-set that lasted over an hour. Auytayakul, riding the cheers of Robinson and teammates, sealed the 7-6 (6), 6-4 victory and secured the match-winning fourth point.
