Liberty Pair Competes in NCAA 50 Free

FEDERAL WAY, Wash. - Liberty freshman Aly Bozzuto and sophomore Kamryn Cannings started their program with the 50 freestyle at the 2025 NCAA Division I Women's Swimming & Diving Championship, Thursday at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatics Center,
Competing together in heat five of 10 of the 50 freestyle, Cannings swam 22.37 while Bozzuto clocked a 22.46.
Liberty's Performers
Both Cannings (100 fly) and Bozzuto (100 breaststroke) will competing in their top event tomorrow. The prelim session begins at 1 p.m. ET (10 a.m. PT) with the 100 fly, followed by the 400 IM, 200 free, 100 breaststroke and 100 backstroke.
Competing together in heat five of 10 of the 50 freestyle, Cannings swam 22.37 while Bozzuto clocked a 22.46.

- During this week's four-day meet, the top 16 from morning prelims each day qualify for evening finals.
- Virginia's Gretchen Walsh, the defending national champion in the 50 free, swam the fastest prelim time this morning, 20.44. Gabi Albiero of Louisville and Maxine Parker of Virginia tied for the last A Final spot at 21.63. It took 21.89 to qualify for the B Final.
- Cannings and Bozzuto competed in heat five, with Cannings (22.37) coming in sixth and Bozzuto (22.46), seventh. A total of 71 swimmers competed in the 50 free this morning.
- Bozzuto is the fourth Liberty freshman all-time to compete at the NCAA Division I Women's Swimming & Diving Championships, joining Jess Reinhardt (2013 – 100 fly, 200 fly), Payton Keiner (2018 – 100 back, 200 back) and Kamryn Cannings (2024 – 100 fly, 200 fly).
- This is the first time since 2014 (Jess Reinhardt) that the Lady Flames have competed in the 50 free at the NCAA Championships.
- This is the ninth time in 15 years of the program's history that at least one Lady Flame has been selected to compete in the NCAA Division I Women's Swimming & Diving Championships. The Lady Flames have had two All-America honorable mention finishers, in Brye Ravettine (13th in 50 free, 2012) and Jess Reinhardt (10th in 100 fly, 2014). All competitors at the cancelled 2020 NCAA Championships were named All-Americans, so Payton Keiner received All-American honors in 2020.
