
Lady Flames Add to Lead on 2nd Day at ASUN Meet

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Liberty padded its lead on day two of the Atlantic Sun (ASUN) Swimming & Diving Championships, Thursday at Allan Jones Aquatic Center.
The Lady Flames came into the day with a 38-point lead over second-place Florida Gulf Coast. The six-time defending champion, Liberty added 52 points to its advantage, now leading FGCU by 90 (499-409). Queens is in third with 329, followed by UNC Asheville (271).

Tomorrow's third day of the ASUN Championships begins at 10 a.m. with prelims of the 100 backstroke and also includes heats of the 100 breaststroke, 200 butterfly and 800 freestyle relay. There will also be an exhibition platform diving event.

- Liberty posted 12 top-eight finishes on Thursday night, including eight podium finishes and four victories. For the meet, Liberty has earned 24 A Finals, 15 podiums and six event victories. The Lady Flames have set three program records, two meet records and one conference record, while earning five NCAA B cuts and three NCAA Zone Qualifying scores.
- The finals session opened with a tight race in the 200 free relay, with Queens winning in 1:30.78, followed by FGCU (1:31.01) and Liberty (1:31.43).
- Sophomore Kamryn Cannings earned the 100 fly title for the second year in a row, swimming an NCAA B cut time of 51.42 in the A Final. Coming into this week, only 10 NCAA Division I women's swimmers turned in a better 100 fly time than Cannings' 51.42. She beat second-place Maddie Foster, who swam a B cut 53.25, by nearly two seconds. Liberty sophomore Emily Harstad placed seventh in 55.07.
- Grace Isaacs earned her fourth career conference podium finish, with all four coming in the 400 IM. She swam a 4:16.98 for third place, trailing only Queen's Abigail Zboran (4:13.44) and Jordan Durocher of FGCU (4:16.34), who both swam B cut times.
- Sydney Stricklin picked up her second career individual-event victory, and first since winning the CCSA 100 free final in 2022, winning the 200 in NCAA B cut time of 1:45.73. Stricklin's time set a new ASUN meet record, breaking the previous mark of 1:46.20, set by FGCU's Elise Haan in 2016. Shelby Kahn took second place in 1:47.13, good for her fifth career podium finish. Kate Baker broke 1:50 for the first time, taking fifth in 1:49.41.
- Shannon Icard followed up her one-meter title from last night, winning three-meter diving with a Zone-qualifying score of 310.70. Maddie Freece qualified for the NCAA Zone Championships with her runner-up 299.05, earning her ninth career conference medal. Chloe LaCount (267.20) finished fourth.
- The Lady Flames wrapped up the evening by winning the 400 medley relay in program, conference and meet-record 3:33.34. That broke the previous conference record of 3:33.92, set by FGCU in 2016. Liberty's previous 400 medley relay record was 3:36.73, from 2014.
- Liberty's 200 free relay from tonight (1:31.43) ranks 10th on the program's all-time top 10 performers list.
- Stricklin's 1:45.73 in the 200 free A Final tonight is ranked second in program history, trailing only Kamryn Cannings' 1:45.67 from the 2023 TYR '85 Invite. Kahn moves into fourth all-tie at Liberty with her 1:47.13, while Baker is now 10th at 1:49.41.
- Icard moved into second place in program history in three-meter diving at 310.70.
