
Lady Flames Continue Record-Breaking Ways at ASUN Championships

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Six-time defending champion Liberty holds a 125-point lead over second-place Florida Gulf Coast after day three of the 2025 Atlantic Sun Swimming & Diving Championships, Friday at Allan Jones Aquatic Center.
The Lady Flames lead with 635 points, followed by FGCU's 510. Queens is in third with 482 points.

Tomorrow will be the final day of the 2025 ASUN Championships. The morning prelims begin at 10 a.m. with the 100 freestyle, followed by 200 backstroke, 200 breaststroke, 400 freestyle relay and the 1,650 freestyle.

Liberty A Finalists
- 800 free relay – 1st place in 7:06.42 (Kamryn Cannings (1:44.10), Sydney Stricklin (1:46.11), Kate Baker (1:49.10), Shelby Kahn (1:47.11))
- R-So. Malia Francis – 100 backstroke (4th place in 55.02 – qualified in 54.72)
- Fr. Layne Jones – 100 backstroke (5th place in 55.27 – qualified in 55.49)
- Fr. Aly Bozzuto – 100 breaststroke (1st place in 59.17 - qualified in 1:00.67)
- So. Emily Harstad – 200 butterfly (2nd place in 1:59.65 – qualified in 2:02.10)
- Sr. Emily Gallion – 200 butterfly (5th place in 2:03.79 – qualified in 2:04.32)
- Liberty posted six top-eight finishes on Friday night, including two event victories and three podium finishes. For the meet, Liberty has earned 30 A Finals, 18 podiums and eight event wins. The Lady Flames have set six program records, four meet records and four conference record, while earning seven NCAA B cuts and four NCAA Zone Qualifying scores.
- The Lady Flames won the 800 free relay for the eighth year in a row, with Kamryn Cannings, Sydney Stricklin, Kate Baker and Shelby Kahn winning in a program, conference and meet-record 7:06.42. Liberty held the previous conference and meet records, 7:10.73, set in 2018.
- In the 100 backstroke, Malia Francis (54.72) finished fourth and Layne Jones (55.27), fifth. That ended an eight-year run with Liberty winning the conference 100 backstroke title.
- Freshman Aly Bozzuto won the 100 breaststroke in NCAA B cut, conference, meet and program-record 59.17. Coming into this week, only 20 NCAA Division I swimmers had gone faster than Bozzuto's 59.17.
- Sophomore Emily Harstad earned her first career conference podium finish, placing second in the 200 butterfly in 1:59.65. Emily Gallion came in fifth in 2:03.79.
- With platform diving contested as an exhibition, Shannon Icard earned a spot on platform at the NCAA Zone Diving Championships with her 253.00 today.
- With diving complete, the following Lady Flames have earned spots at the NCAA Zone Championships (Chloe LaCount – One-meter, Three-meter; Shannon Icard – One-meter, Three-meter, Platform; Maddie Freece – Three-meter).
- Bozzuto broke Emilie Kaufman's program record of 1:00.01, which was set at the 2014 CCSA Championships in Knoxville. She broke Petra Halmai of FGCU's conference (59.76) and meet (59.98), which were both set in 2021.
- Kamryn Cannings led off the 800 free relay in a program conference and meet-record 200 freestyle time of 1:44.10. She broke her own conference record of 1:45.67, set at the 2023 TYR '85 Invite. Her time of 1:44.10 ranks in the top 30 nationally for 200 free.
- Tayler Curlee moved into fifth place in program history in platform diving (212.90), while Maddie Freece is now eighth (181.35).
- Harstad became the fifth Lady Flame to break two minutes in the 200 fly all-time, currently ranking fifth in the program's record book in 1:59.65. Gallion is now 10th in the 200 fly with her 2:03.79 tonight.
