
Lady Flames to Host Liberty Softball Classic

No. 20 Liberty opens a 13-game homestand by competing in the Liberty Softball Classic, Saturday and Sunday at Kamphuis Field at Liberty Softball Stadium. The tournament will begin at 1:30 p.m. on Friday with Liberty against Charleston Southern. The Lady Flames take on Saint Joseph's at 3 p.m., Saturday before facing Hofstra (noon) and Radford (4 p.m.) on Sunday.
Liberty's Sunday game against Radford will air live on ESPN+.

• The Lady Flames opened the 2025 Shriners Children's Clearwater Invitational with comeback wins over Charlotte (6-4) and No. 12 Alabama (7-6) on Friday, pushing their program-best start to 8-0. Liberty is 5-2 against Power Conference opponents this season.
• Despite its challenging early schedule, Liberty has outscored opponents 56-36, outhitting them .309-.221. The Lady Flames average an impressive 2.09 stolen bases per game.
• After posting her third three-hit game of the season, Sunday against Auburn, Madrey bats .500. Oregon State transfers Paige Doerr (.375) and Savanah Whatley (.368) have both provided a spark in their first year on Liberty Mountain. Whatley keyed Liberty's win over No. 12 Alabama with a triple and three RBI. Savannah Woodard has thrived in the leadoff spot, batting .342 with eight runs and eight RBI. Brynn McManus (.333) and Savannah Jessee (.310) give Liberty six .300 hitters, while 2025 CUSA Preseason Player of the Year Rachel Roupe is tied for the team lead with eight RBI.
• Freshman Danner Allen has a 0.00 ERA in two appearances so far this season. On Sunday, she held Auburn to one hit while striking out six in 5 2/3 relief innings. Senior Paige Bachman in 4-1 with a 1.67 ERA, one shutout and 27 strikeouts. 2024 NFCA All-Region third team pitcher Kaylan Yoder is 1-1 with a 2.47 ERA, while 2024 NFCA All-Region second-teamer Elena Escobar is 2-1 and earned the win over No. 12 Alabama.
