
Liberty Downs Campbell, UNC Asheville on Senior Day

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Liberty wrapped up its regular-season swimming & diving schedule, topping both Campbell and UNC Asheville in a two-day meet, which wrapped up on Saturday at Liberty Natatorium.
The Lady Flames (7-3) defeated UNC Asheville (4-3) by a 192-161 score, while Liberty beat Campbell (1-6), 289-58. The Bulldogs topped the Camels 284-63 in head-to-head action.
Liberty Event Winners
The Lady Flames will aim for their seventh straight conference title, competing in the 2025 ASUN Swimming & Diving Championships, held Feb. 19-22 at Allan Jones Aquatic Center in Knoxville, Tenn.

- For the meet, Liberty won three out of four relays, while the Lady Flames won all three diving events and seven individual swimming events. UNC Asheville won one relay and six individual races.
- For the second meet in a row, Liberty's Kamryn Cannings won four events. She added 100 freestyle and 100 butterfly victories today to her 50 free and 200 butterfly triumphs from last evening.
- While last night's relays were decided by a combined 0.64 seconds, Liberty won today's two relay races by a total of 7.24 seconds.
- Remarkably, the longest race of the meet was decided by just 0.16 seconds. Caitlin Hefner of UNC Asheville won the 1650 freestyle in 17:03.79, with Liberty's Isabelle Gomez finishing second in 17:03.95.
- Liberty went 1-2-3 in the 200 backstroke, with Malia Francis (2:01.71) winning, followed by Sadie Stricklin (2:05.56) and Layne Jones (2:05.68).
- UNC Asheville picked up a 1-2-3 showing in the 200 IM.
- Liberty took the top two spots in platform diving, with Shannon Icard (210.90) taking first and Tayler Curlee (162.95), second.
- Liberty is 25-2 all-time against Campbell in regular-season dual meets, winning each of the last 25 meetings.
- The Lady Flames hold a 7-2 dual-meet record over UNC Asheville, although the Bulldogs won each of the last two meetings prior to this weekend.
