
4 Field Hockey Players Selected to NFHCA All-Region Teams

LYNCHBURG, Va. – A total of four Liberty field hockey players – Dara Semmartin, Lou Combrinck, Josefina Tomasi and Diane Saint Martin – were selected to the 2025 National Field Hockey Coaches (NFHCA) Division I All-South Region teams.
Semmartin, Combrinck and Tomasi each earned spots on the first team, and Saint Martin was tabbed a second team honoree. Combrinck receives her second career all-region award, while the other three recipients are first-time honorees.
A total of 36 Lady Flames have been selected to the all-region teams in head coach Nikki Parsley-Blocker's nine years at the helm (2017-25). Liberty and UConn both featured four all-region selections this year. No other BIG EAST squad featured more than two.
Liberty finished the 2025 season with a 17-3 overall record and perfect 7-0 BIG EAST regular season mark. The Lady Flames claimed both the BIG EAST regular season and championship titles. Liberty ended the year ranked No. 6 in the final Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I Coaches Poll and No. 7 in the NCAA Field Hockey RPI listing.
Division I teams are separated into five regions: Mid-Atlantic, Mideast, Northeast, South and West. Each region recognizes up to 16 student-athletes on both the first and second teams. A total of 160 student-athletes were named to the 2025 NFHCA Division I All-Region Teams.
The NFHCA Division I All-Region team announcement is the first in a list of NFHCA postseason awards over the next several weeks. Next to be announced are the NFHCA Regional Players of the Year on Dec. 11, followed by the NFHCA All-American teams on Dec. 16 and the NFHCA National Player of the Year on Dec. 18.
Dara Semmartin (NFHCA All-South Region first team)
Semmartin, the unanimous 2025 BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year and All-BIG EAST first team selection, earns her first career all-region nod. The sophomore was also tabbed to the BIG EAST All-Tournament team and earned five BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week awards during the fall 2025 campaign.
In 20 starts, Semmartin recorded six goals (tied for No. 4 on team), 16 assists (No. 1 on team) and 28 points No. 1 on team). Her 16 assists were a new single-season school record and tied for the seventh most nationally. The defender finished the year ranked No. 1 in the BIG EAST and ninth in the country in assists per game (0.80). In only two seasons at Liberty, the Buenos Aires, Argentina native already ranks No. 9 in program history with 27 career assists after back-to-back double-digit assist seasons (16 in 2025, 11 in 2024).
In addition to her abilities on the offensive end, Semmartin helped the Liberty defensive unit notch eight shutouts in 2025, tied for the second most in a year in school history. Semmartin and the Lady Flames ranked seventh in the nation and first in the conference in shutouts per game (0.40). The Lady Flames yielded only two goals in seven BIG EAST regular season contests, recording six shutouts. Semmartin was also tabbed to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll two times during her second season in Lynchburg.
Lou Combrinck (NFHCA All-South Region first team)
Combrinck, a forward/midfielder, receives her second career all-region accolade and is a first team honoree for the first time. The senior garnered 2025 BIG EAST Championship Most Outstanding Player and All-Tournament team honors after scoring the game-winning goal in Liberty's 2-1 overtime win over UConn in the conference tournament final. Also an All-BIG EAST first team selection, Combrinck started all 20 games of her final campaign and shared the team lead with seven goals while finishing second on the squad in assists (12) and points (26). Combrinck ended the year third in the BIG EAST and 21st in the country in assists per game (0.60).
The Hillcrest, South Africa native was named NFHCA Division I Offensive Player of the Week honorable mention on Sept. 3 as well as BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week (Sept. 2) following her strong performance in Liberty's 4-3 win at No. 5 Duke to open the year. In that contest, she scored the game-winning goal on a 56th minute penalty corner. Combrinck and the Lady Flames trailed 3-0 just over 17 minutes into the match before scoring four unanswered goals.
Combrinck also earned a spot on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Sept. 30.
Josefina Tomasi (NFHCA All-South Region first team)
Tomasi, a sophomore forward, garners her first career all-region distinction. The forward was an All-BIG EAST second team selection. In 20 games (all starts), she finished tied for the team lead with seven goals to go along with five assists (No. 3 on team) and 19 points (No. 3 on team).
Tomasi earned BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week honors on Sept. 9 after notching two goals, two assists and six points in home wins over James Madison and Richmond. Tomasi scored a highlight-reel goal against JMU that was featured on ESPN SportsCenter's Top 10 plays listing as the No. 3 play. In that game against the Dukes, the forward had a season-high four points (1 g, 4 a). The Cañada de Gómez, Argentina native, scored four goals over her final seven games, including two in postseason play. Tomasi tallied the game winner in the Lady Flames' 3-1 triumph over Villanova in the BIG EAST Championship semifinals and notched the game-tying goal in the final minute of regulation against No. 10 Syracuse in the NCAA Field Hockey Championship Sweet 16 (Nov. 14).
Diane Saint Martin (NFHCA All-South Region second team)
Saint Martin, the 2025 BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Year, earns all-region recognition in her first collegiate season. The Paris, France native was also an All-BIG EAST first team and BIG EAST All-Tournament team honoree. Saint Martin earned seven weekly awards on the year – one NFHCA Division I Defensive Player of the Week award, one NFHCA Division I Defensive Player of the Week honorable mention distinction, two BIG EAST Freshman of the Week honors, one BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week award and two BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll recognitions.
Saint Martin started all 20 games in cage for Liberty, posting a 17-3 record, 0.88 goals-against average (GAA), 62 saves, a .775 save percentage and eight shutouts. In seven BIG EAST matches, Saint Martin was a perfect 7-0 with a 0.27 goals-against average, 20 saves, a .909 save percentage and six shutouts. The rookie netminder from Paris, France, yielded only two goals during all of conference play. Saint Martin posted a career-high 12 saves in Liberty's 3-2 (3-1 penalty shootouts) win at Temple on Oct. 24, also adding three stops in the shootout round. The freshman was 2-0 with a 0.98 GAA, nine saves and a .818 save percentage at the BIG EAST Field Hockey Championship.
