LYNCHBURG, Va. – Peace Ashina, a talented athlete from Georgia, has signed with the Liberty women's basketball team for the 2026-27 academic year.
Ashina's addition completes the Lady Flames' fall signing class, which also includes Trinity Holsinger and Amari Worsham.
Peace Ashina (G, 6-0, Snellville, Ga.)
A senior at South Gwinnett High School, Ashina has averaged a double-double and earned first team all-league recognition each of the past two seasons.
Ashina went for 15.4 ppg and 10.0 rpg as a sophomore before exploding for 24.5 ppg and 10.2 rpg last season.
"I knew as soon as I set foot in Virginia that this was going to be the school for me," stated Ashina. "I felt great, warm comfort from the team and coaches. Additionally, the campus life, resources and tools Liberty has can support me into the goals and plans I have for my life."
What They're Saying About Peace Ashina
"Peace is the epitome of dedication and versatility on the court. Her work ethic is unmatched, and her athleticism allows her to excel in multiple facets of the game. As a player, she's not just talented, but she's a relentless competitor, always striving to get better. I am confident that she will make a tremendous impact at Liberty University and beyond."
Alexis Sherard, Liberty Women's Basketball Head Coach
"Peace is a once in a generation player. Her work ethic is unmatched. She is always the first in the gym and the last to leave. Her eagerness and commitment to becoming the best version of herself is truly a sight to witness, and I am glad to have played a role in her journey to achieve greatness. Liberty is not only getting a great student-athlete, but an even better human being! I can't thank Coach Sherard and his staff enough for believing in Peace. I know that they will not only help catapult her game to the next level, but also her life."
Eric Dawson, South Gwinnett High School Girls' Basketball Head Coach
"Peace Ashina is an amazing kid on and off the court. She puts so much time and effort into becoming the best she can be—always watching film during tournament weekends and constantly asking how she can improve her game. She's only beginning to tap into her potential and will truly break out at the next level. It was a pleasure coaching her. She is a great player and even better person."
