
Men’s Tennis Set to Compete at ITA Atlantic Regional

LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Liberty men's tennis team prepares to compete at the ITA Atlantic Regional in Blacksburg, Va. The six-day event, hosted by Virginia Tech, consists of 19 programs from the ITA Atlantic Region.
Liberty will send its full roster to the event. The tournament is the Flames' third event of the fall season, following the ITA All-American Championship (Sept. 20-23) and the Liberty Dual (Sept. 26-28).
Among the 20 participating teams are powerhouse programs Virginia, Old Dominion and Virginia Tech.
The event begins with a singles qualifying round with athletes needing two victories to advance to the main draw. Athletes will compete in both singles and doubles throughout the event. All players are guaranteed at least two singles matches.
The finalists in both singles and doubles qualify for the NCAA Individual Championships later this fall.
Liberty brought home hardware in last season's Regional Championship at Old Dominion. Joaquim Almeida and Siwanat Auytayakul secured five victories, including triumphs over Old Dominion and a pair of wins over Virginia Tech. The two advanced to the NCAA Individuals with the doubles title, where they picked up a win over Cal's No. 25 Emil Overbeck and Theo Dean 6-3.
