The two teams held a scoreless tie for nearly the entirety of the first half. West Virginia broke through with 10 seconds remaining in the half. The Mountaineers capitalized on a corner opportunity with a score from Annika Leslie.
Lauren Littleton was credited with her first career goal to even the game with just over 10 minutes remaining. The score was changed to an own goal for West Virginia after the game. Liberty earned a corner kick from a strong chance from Halle Engle that was saved from West Virginia's Mackenzie Smith. Sallie Garner lobbed the ball in that eventually found Littleton in the center of the box. The defender's shot ricocheted off a few bodies but found the back of the net.
Liberty secured a 1-0-1 weekend after it picked up a win at No. 21 Virginia Tech on Thursday night. The Lady Flames move to 1-0-1 all-time against West Virginia. Liberty topped the Mountaineers 3-1 on Sept. 3, 2023.

Thoughts from Head Coach Lang Wedemeyer
"I thought WVU played a great first half and I thought we responded well in the second. We played with a lot more grit and intention to get the result. Always hard to come off such a big win and compete against such a quality team in the same weekend."
Scoring Summary
45' – West Virginia – Annika Leslie
80' – Liberty – (own goal)
