No. 24 Liberty Explodes with Four Early Scores, Tops George Mason 6-0
9/12/2024 10:57:00 PM | Women's Soccer
Halle Engle tallied her sixth game-opening goal and her seventh tally of the season in the fourth minute of the game. Engle took advantage of a misplay from a Patriot defender and had just the keeper to beat.
Less than a minute later, Avenley Monteith (2) placed a perfect strike from well outside the 18-yard box. Monteith's shot hit the right, upper-90 of the goal to push the score to 2-0.
Three minutes after Monteith's score, fellow midfielder Gabby Miranda (4) beat her defender to a pass from the George Mason keeper to force a turnover in the attacking zone. The sophomore used two touches to beat the keeper from the center of the penalty box.
In the 10th minute, Ivy Garner (2) struck a header from a cross by Avery Paulson. Garner's shot struck the ground but bounced by an outstretched keeper to stretch the lead to 4-0.
Liberty was held scoreless for 67 minutes before Isabella Wedemeyer (3) received a perfect pass from Haley Noblit at the top of the penalty box. The freshman used an expert touch to settle the ball and push a score past the George Mason keeper.
To finish the night, Haley Noblit (2) raced past her defender to receive a pass from midfield at the top of the penalty box. Noblit beat a pressing keeper to the spot and pushed a slow roller to push the lead to 6-0.
