
Men’s Soccer to Host Western Illinois for OVC Opener Saturday

LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Liberty Flames will welcome the Western Illinois Leathernecks to Osborne Stadium as both teams begin Ohio Valley Conference play (OVC) on Saturday. Match time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
Liberty (2-3-1) returns home after three straight road contests. The Flames fell 1-0 at No. 12 Clemson on Tuesday in a game halted in the 72nd minute due to inclement weather. The match was the last non-conference contest of the season for Liberty.
The Flames now turn to OVC play. Last season, Liberty finished third in the first conference standings with a 4-4-2 OVC mark and was picked to finish second in the conference standings this season in the 2024 Preseason poll.
Liberty will meet Western Illinois (5-3-1) on the soccer field for the first time on Saturday. The contest will be Leathernecks' first-ever OVC contest. Western Illinois has won three straight matches.
