
Liberty Welcomes Top Talent Hosting Liberty Dual This Weekend

LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Liberty Flames men's tennis team prepares to host a 10-team tournament this weekend that includes some of the top programs in the country. The Liberty Dual is scheduled from Friday to Sunday at the Liberty Tennis Complex with matches scheduled at fixed points throughout the weekend.
Live streams will be available via Playsight for matches in the Liberty Indoor Tennis Center. All matches are planned to be played outside. If necessary due to weather, matches will be moved indoors.
The 10-team Liberty Dual welcomes some of the top programs on the East Coast including No. 4 Virginia, No. 36 Princeton, No. 46 Charlotte, No. 54 Old Dominion and No. 73 Penn (year-end 2024 ITA rankings). Programs also participating include Elon, Navy, Norfolk State and William & Mary.
The Flames begin the 2024-25 year hosting the Liberty Dual event. Liberty looks to build off a successful 18-9 spring season, finishing as runners-up in the Conference USA Championship and making a semifinal run at the 2024 UTR Sports NIT Championship.
Liberty debuts four new players on the 2024-25 roster including three transfers, Joaquim Almeida, Carl Roothman and Trey Stinchcomb along with true freshman Siwanat Auytayakul. The Flames return four athletes, Ernst Gouws, Chase Robinson, Matija Samardzic and Rodrigo Santiago Arraez.

Tournament Breakdown:
- Liberty enters the 2024-25 year looking to replace the production of five departed student-athletes.
- The Flames debut four newcomers to the 2024-25 roster with the addition of one freshman and three transfer students. Siwanat Auytayakul joins the Flames as a freshman by way of Thailand. Liberty boosted its roster with the addition of Joaquim Almeida (VCU), Carl Roothman (Oklahoma State) and Trey Stinchcomb (Clemson).
- Liberty returns four athletes from last season without any upperclassmen returning. Ernst Gouws (RS Freshman), Chase Robinson (RS Sophomore), Matija Samarzic (Sophomore) and Matija Samardzic (Sophomore) look to build off strong campaigns last season.
- Liberty men's tennis is hosting its first dual tournament since 2022. The Liberty Tennis Complex hosted the ITA Atlantic Regional in 2023.
