Men’s Tennis Opens 2024 Fall Season with a Strong Outing at Liberty Dual

LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Flames hosted the Liberty Dual this weekend for its first event of the 2024 fall season. The Liberty Dual consisted of 10 teams in a hidden dual format, Liberty faced off primarily against Old Dominion, William & Mary and Penn.
Liberty was 14-16 overall over the weekend including a 5-4 doubles record and a 9-12 singles mark. Chase Robinson led the Flames with four victories across this weekend highlighted by a 3-0 record in doubles.
Four Flames made their Liberty debut, including transfers Carl Roothman (3-3. 1-2 doubles, 2-1 singles), Trey Stinchcomb (2-2, 2-0 doubles, 0-2 singles) and Joaquim Almeida (2-4, 1-2 doubles, 1-2 singles) along with freshman Siwanat Auytayakul (3-3, 2-1 doubles, 1-2 singles).
Liberty's returning players include Robinson (4-2, 3-0 doubles, 1-2 singles), Rodrigo Santiago Arraez (2-1, 0-1 doubles, 1-1 singles), Matija Samardzic (3-2, 0-2 doubles, 3-0 singles) and Ernst Gouws (1-1, 1-0 doubles, 1-0 singles).
The Flames opened the event taking on Old Dominion indoors and went 4-6 overall against the Monarchs with a 1-2 doubles round and 3-4 in singles. Liberty next faced William & Mary and dominated the doubles round 3-0 and split singles 4-4 (7-4 overall). The Flames closed the event against Penn managing a 3-6 overall mark going 1-2 doubles and 2-4 in singles.
