20 Liberty Field Hockey Student-Athletes Honored on BIG EAST All-Academic Team

LYNCHBURG, Va. – A total of 20 Liberty field hockey student-athletes were honored on the 2023-24 BIG EAST All-Academic Team.
Liberty's honorees include three graduate students, six seniors, three juniors, four sophomores and four freshmen. The Lady Flames have featured 163 BIG EAST All-Academic Team members in eight years in the conference.
Bethany Dykema earns her fifth straight BIG EAST All-Academic Team recognition. Meanwhile, Jodie Conolly, Lexi Hosler, Reagan Underwood and Maddie Vicars have each made the listing four times.
In total, 176 student-athletes from the league's eight field hockey teams were represented on the BIG EAST All-Academic Team. To be eligible for this honor, nominees must have competed in a BIG EAST-sponsored sport, attained a minimum grade-point average (GPA) of 3.00 for the preceding school year and completed a minimum of two consecutive semesters or three consecutive quarters of academic work, with a total of 18 semester or 27 quarter credits. Nominees are permitted to be enrolled less than full-time if they are in their final semester or quarter of their baccalaureate program or the final term before an experiential learning requirement (e.g., student teaching, internship, clinical, capstone project, etc.).
Liberty achieved a 3.32 team GPA during the 2023-24 school year and currently holds a 3.37 GPA. The Lady Flames' success in the classroom coincided with their success on the field hockey field. Liberty earned its third straight BIG EAST regular season title in 2023, finishing a perfect 7-0 in conference play. The Lady Flames posted a 17-3 overall mark and earned their third straight bid to the NCAA Division I Field Hockey Championship. It was the program's first-ever at-large berth into the NCAA Tournament.
In its eight seasons in the BIG EAST, Liberty has two championship titles and holds a 51-10 record in regular season league contests.
Overall, 3,150 BIG EAST student-athletes earned all-academic team honors. Nominations for the BIG EAST All-Academic Team are submitted by each of the BIG EAST's 11 members schools and six affiliate institutions.
