
No. 1 Seed Louisiana Tech Eliminates No. 5 Seed Liberty 6-5 in 10 Innings

The setback eliminates Liberty from the tournament, while Louisiana Tech advances to the CUSA Championship Game against No. 2 seed Dallas Baptist tomorrow.
The Flames jumped out to a 4-0 lead after four innings and carried a 5-2 advantage into the bottom of the eighth, only to see the Bulldogs rally for three runs to knot the contest at 5-5.
In the ninth, Liberty loaded the bases with no one out in the top of the inning but failed to score as Louisiana Tech reliever Nate Crider entered the game and proceeded to work out of the jam. In the bottom of the inning, the Bulldogs moved the winning run to third with two out, only to be turned away by Flames reliever Dylan Mathiesen to send the game to extra innings.
Making his first start of the season, Liberty starting pitcher Cale Bolton pitched a season-high 6 1/3 innings, leaving with runners on first and second with one in the seventh inning. The right-hander allowed two runs on eight hits, striking out six and walking one.
Flames first baseman John Simmons had two hits, including his sixth home run of the season, and three RBI in the game. Right fielder Camden Troyer also had two hits and scored twice for Liberty.
Liberty's season comes to an end with the loss. The Flames finish the season with a 24-34 record. Louisiana Tech moves to 45-16.
