Liberty Field Hockey Releases Fall 2024 Match Schedule

LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Liberty field hockey team has released its fall 2024 schedule.
The Lady Flames will play 18 regular season games and a seven-game BIG EAST Conference regular season slate. Liberty, entering its ninth year in the league, claimed the outright BIG EAST regular season crown in 2023 and has won two of the last three BIG EAST Championship titles (fall 2021, 2022).
Liberty will play an exhibition match against Appalachian State on Aug. 23 prior to the start of the regular season. The Lady Flames' 2024 schedule includes games against five teams that finished in the top 20 in the country in the final Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I Coaches Poll in 2023, including a matchup with defending national champion No. 1 North Carolina at home on Sept. 22. Liberty will host two other top five teams from last season, including No. 3 Duke (Sept. 15) and No. 5 Virginia (Sept. 8).
The Lady Flames' season opener is at Kent State on Aug. 30, followed by a neutral site game against Indiana at Kent State the next day (Aug. 31).
Liberty's other games against ranked teams include showdowns against defending BIG EAST champion No. 17 Old Dominion (road, Sept. 20, BIG EAST opener) and a road match at No. 18 Albany, the 2023 America East regular season champion, on Sept. 29.
Liberty's home opener will be against Monmouth, Sept. 6. The Lady Flames' other home games will be against William & Mary (Sept. 13), Temple (Oct. 4), Appalachian State (Oct. 6), Quinnipiac (Oct. 18), Longwood (Oct. 20) and Georgetown (Nov. 1). The Lady Flames' four other road contests will be at Providence (Sept. 27), Villanova (Oct. 11), Connecticut (Oct. 25) and James Madison (Oct. 29).
The 2024 BIG EAST Field Hockey Championship will be held Nov. 8-10 at Providence's Lennon Family Field, with the winner receiving an automatic berth into the 2024 NCAA Division I Field Hockey Championship.
Liberty has played in the NCAA Field Hockey Championship in each of the last three seasons (fall 2021, 2022 and 2023) and five times overall (also 2013 and 2014).
The Lady Flames finished the 2023 season with a 17-3 overall record and perfect 7-0 BIG EAST mark. Liberty earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in school history.
