LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Liberty women's basketball team is adding some experience to its backcourt, as point guard Anna Badosa is transferring from Franklin Pierce for her final year of eligibility in 2024-25.
The 2024 Northeast-10 Defensive Player of the Year, Badosa will be the second native of Girona, Spain on the Lady Flames' 2024-25 roster, along with Claudia Acin.
The addition of Badosa will give Liberty five newcomers on next year's team. Incoming freshmen Maleah Alexander, Avery Mills, Ify Nwaobi and Emmy Stout signed with the Lady Flames during the fall.
Anna Badosa (G, 5-9, Girona, Spain)
Badosa is coming off a breakthrough 2023-24 campaign which saw her lead Franklin Pierce to a 20-11 record and its first NCAA Division II Tournament appearance since 2013.
She led the Ravens in scoring (14.1 ppg), assists (3.2 apg) and steals (2.0 rpg), while also pulling down 5.8 rpg from the backcourt. Badosa shot the ball well from the field (45.2 percent), three-point range (38.5 percent) and the foul line (87.5 percent).
As a result, Badosa was named Northeast-10 Conference Defensive Player of the year, first team all-conference and second team All-East Region.
Badosa, who graduated from Angloamericano, stated, "Signing to play basketball at Liberty University was an easy decision. From the day I stepped on campus, the coaching staff, team, and the school were more than welcoming and felt like family. After lots of thought, I knew this was a place I could call home for the next year while competing for a championship, bettering myself on and off the court, and making memories of a lifetime."
What They're Saying about Anna Badosa
"Anna is a seasoned veteran who brings a maturity with her game. She is an excellent defender as well as a scoring threat at all levels. Anna's understanding and IQ from the point guard position leads to an effective and balanced team offense. Her competitive spirit and leadership will have a major impact on our success. We are excited she chose to be Liberty Flame."
