
Liberty to Host ASUN Matchups Against Coastal Carolina, Queens

LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Lady Flames lacrosse team prepares to welcome Atlantic Sun foes Coastal Carolina on Thursday and Queens on Saturday. Both contests are set for 1 p.m. from the Liberty Lacrosse Field.
Liberty (4-7, 1-0 ASUN) looks to extend its ASUN win streak to nine games dating back to last season when they take on Coastal Carolina (7-4, 1-0 ASUN) and Queens (7-5, 1-0 ASUN). The Lady Flames secured a victory in their ASUN opener with an 18-11 victory at Stetson. The win was Liberty's fifth straight victory in an ASUN opener (5-0).
The Lady Flames defense, led by two-time ASUN Defensive Player of the Week (March 5, April 2), Madeleine Klunder, leads the country with 15.73 caused turnovers per game and ranks No. 2 nationally with 22.64 ground balls per game.
Liberty seeks to build on an 8-3 all-time mark against Coastal including victories in the past five consecutive meetings, most recently taking a 17-14 road victory in 2023. The Lady Flames look to improve on a 2-0 all-time mark against Queens, last besting the Royals 21-8 in the 2023 ASUN Women's Lacrosse Championship semifinals.

- Defender Madeleine Klunder received her second ASUN Defensive Player of the Week award on Tuesday. Klunder leads Liberty with 30 ground balls and is second on the team with 22 caused turnovers.
- Attacker Kelly Scott enjoyed one of her most productive outings in Liberty's 18-11 win at Stetson. Scott tallied four goals against the Hatters and also had a game-high two points (1 g, 1 a) in a 23-3 loss at Florida. The senior is tied for the team lead with 19 goals this season (four assists).
- Jordan Sheive shares the team lead with 19 goals with Scott. The attacker leads Liberty in points (31) and assists (12) this spring.
- Midfielder Katie Colavito (17 g, 2 a) ranks No. 13 in the country with 2.18 caused turnovers per game, leading Liberty with 24 this spring. The sophomore leads the team with 37 draw controls and is second on the team with 23 ground balls.
- Goalkeeper Mara Tellers has given the Lady Flames consistency in the crease of late. Tellers has started the past three contests for Liberty, owning a 1-2 record in those games while making 26 saves.
- Liberty achieved its best production from free-position opportunities on Friday. The Lady Flames scored on 5-of-9 free-position attempts including three consecutive free-position goals in the second quarter. Liberty ranks No. 20 in free-position attempts (67) but ranks No. 86 nationally in free-position percentage (.403, 27-of-67).
- The Lady Flames rank No. 28 in the country with 31.82 shots per game.
