
Liberty Bounces Back with 18-11 Triumph at Stetson

DELAND, Fla. – Liberty snapped a three-game losing streak with an 18-11 takedown on the road at Stetson on Friday afternoon. The contest was held at the Athletic Training Center.
Liberty held as large of a lead as 18-6 in the fourth quarter. The Lady Flames improve to 5-0 all-time in ASUN openers.
The Lady Flames (4-7, 1-0 ASUN) started quickly against the Hatters (3-7, 0-2 ASUN), grabbing the first four goals of the game with the first two added by Jordan Sheive. Liberty dominated the second quarter, outscoring Stetson 9-2 in the frame, Kelly Scott tallied a hat trick in the second quarter alone.
Not letting up in the second half, Liberty deposited the first two scores of the second half, later adding back-to-back goals by Ava Rajala. The Lady Flames led by an 18-6 margin before Stetson netted the final five goals of the contest.
Three Lady Flames, Kelly Scott (4g), Katie Colavito (3g, 1a) and Ava Rajala (3g, 1 a) recorded a hat trick against the Hatters. Four shared a team-high four points including the three previously mentioned and Jordan Sheive (2g, 2a).
Liberty enjoyed its best performance from free-position chances this season, cashing in on 5-of-9 opportunities.
Goalkeepers Mara Tellers (2-4) and Rachel Hines combined 14 saves on Friday.
The Lady Flames improve to an unbeaten 6-0 against Stetson and move their record to 2-3 on the road. Liberty secures its ninth straight ASUN victory dating back to 2022. The Lady Flames went a perfect 7-0 in ASUN regular season play across 2023.
