HIGH POINT, N.C. – Throwers led the way for Liberty on Friday, the opening day of the Bob Davidson Team Challenge. Paola Bueno (hammer) and Addilae Watts (javelin) swept the women's throwing event titles, while Kellen Kimes (second in hammer) was the men's squad's top finisher at Vert Stadium.
The Lady Flames are in the lead through three of 20 women's events in the team-scored meet. Liberty totaled 39 points on the day, nine more than second-place East Carolina.
Meanwhile, the Flames sit in fourth place of eight men's teams with 15 points. Meet host High Point is the leader in the clubhouse after racking up 48 points through four events.
Women's Day 1 Recap
Liberty started off the meet with a huge 25-point showing in the women's hammer. Bueno (198-10), Megan Mann (personal-best 190-2) and Annika Hantho (personal-best 181-8) swept the top three places, while Efe Latham threw 163-0 for eighth in her outdoor Liberty debut.
