TEMPE, Ariz. – The Lady Flames lacrosse team dropped a tough 12-5 game at Arizona State on Wednesday. The contest was held at the Sun Devil Soccer/Lacrosse Stadium.
Liberty jumped out to an early 2-1 lead but was downed by nine consecutive Sun Devil scores. The Lady Flames showed their fight in the second half, outscoring Arizona State 3-2 to finish out the game.
Seniors Jordan Sheive and Olivia Glaze led Liberty with two goals apiece. Goalkeeper Mara Tellers came on in relief of starter Rachel Hines (0-2) hallway through the second quarter. Tellers managed four saves, allowing three goals in the crease.
Not lacking opportunities, Liberty outshot Arizona State 27-23 but failed to capitalize on its biggest chances. The Sun Devils took advantage of its free-position chances, converting 5-of-6 attempts, while Liberty went 0-of-3 in free-position chances on Wednesday.
The Lady Flames record moves to 3-5 and drops to a 1-2 mark on the road.
