
Lady Flames Fall to Illinois, Iowa at THE Spring Games

LEESBURG, Fla. - Liberty fell to both Illinois and Iowa on Friday at Sleepy Hollow Softball Complex. The Fighting Illini pulled away for a 5-1 win, while the Hawkeyes held off the Lady Flames, 4-2.
The Lady Flames (2-7) have gone 1-2 so far at THE Spring Games, with a win yesterday over Coastal Carolina and today's setbacks to Illinois and Iowa. Both of Liberty's opponents went 1-1 today, as Illinois (1-4) lost to Kansas tonight and Iowa (4-3) fell to Southern Illinois earlier today.

- Illinois jumped ahead with a two-run fourth inning, getting an RBI double from Adisyn Caryl and an RBI single from Paige Berkmeyer.

- Lauren Wiles (1-2) earned the win, allowing one run on five hits, walking three and striking out two in 4 2/3 innings. McQueen allowed one hit and struck out two in 2 1/3 innings pitched.

- With Liberty trailing 4-2 in the bottom of the seventh, Megan Fortner drew a one-out walk. After two outs, Savannah Jessee hit a high drive to left center which was caught just in front of the fence.
- Iowa outhit Liberty 11-7 for the game, while both teams left nine runners on base. The Lady Flames committed two errors, compared to one for Iowa.
- Jalen Adams (2-1) earned the win, allowing two runs on seven hits, walking two and striking out two in seven innings.
- Kaylan Yoder (0-2) yielded two runs on four hits, walking one in 1/3 of an inning as the starting pitcher. Elena Escobar gave up two runs, one earned, on seven hits, with two walks and three strikeouts in 6 2/3 innings of work.
