
Four Lady Flames Named to All-South Region Teams

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Liberty women's soccer placed four student-athletes, including three first-team members, on the United Soccer Coaches All-South Region first and second teams, the organization announced recently. Forwards Ivy Garner and Halle Engle along with defender Sallie Garner were named to the first team while defender Kayla Magee received a selection to the second team.
The four All-South Region team members helped guide the Lady Flames to a stellar 15-2-4 2024 campaign, concluding as Conference USA runners-up. Liberty led CUSA with a +28 goal differential and a league-best 0.62 goals-against average (13 goals allowed) and ranked second in the conference with 41 scores. The Lady Flames finished with the seventh-best winning percentage in the country with a .810 mark.
Liberty's four selections to the three All-South Region teams were tied for the most among 15 programs recognized. Along with Liberty, Lipscomb, South Florida and FGCU each received four total selections. FGCU joined Liberty as the only program with three named to the first team.
Ivy Garner receives her second consecutive selection to the All-South Region first team. She was previously named to the 2023 first team after tallying six goals (four game-winners) and four assists. The forward excelled in 2024, earning a selection to the CUSA All-Conference first team for the second consecutive season. The junior ranked second on Liberty with nine goals and 26 points while pacing the conference with eight assists. Garner finished the season with a nod to the CUSA All-Tournament team after scoring the game-winning goal in a 1-0 win over No. 3 seed New Mexico State in the semifinal round.
Engle paced the Lady Flames with 12 goals and 27 points (three assists), leading to recognition on the CUSA All-Conference first team. The forward finished tied for second in the country with seven game-winning goals. The junior scored the opening goal in nine contests this season, guiding the Lady Flames to victory in each instance.
Sallie Garner and Magee anchored a defense that carried Liberty throughout the 2024 season. Both athletes started all 21 games this season with Sallie Garner logging over 1,500 minutes and Magee totaling over 1,750 minutes. The back-line held opponents to 7.10 shots per game and 3.04 shots on goal per game. Garner and Magee each received selections to the 2024 CUSA All-Conference first team in leading the best CUSA defense.
