
UTEP Rallies Past Liberty, 3-1

LYNCHBURG, Va. -Â After the teams split the first two sets, UTEP won sets three and four to claim a 3-1 (25-23, 21-25, 25-21, 25-20) victory over Liberty, Friday at Liberty Arena.
The Miners improve to 23-4, 13-2 in Conference USA play to remain in second place in conference standings with three matches left. The Lady Flames fall to 13-14, 7-8 in conference matches. Â
Liberty honored its six seniors – Kamryn Bacus, Madison Blane, Autumn Flowers, Kate Gammer, Elizabeth Helmich and Erica Lowery – prior to the match.

- UTEP outhit Liberty .336-.272 for the match. The Miners also led in kills (64-47), assists, 60-42, aces (12-4) and digs (58-51). Liberty led 9-5 in blocks.
- Ema Uskokovic led all players with 15 kills, adding 11 digs. Torrance Lovesee (12 kills, 13 digs, three aces) and Kalia Kohler (34 assists, 10 digs) both added double-doubles. Danika Washington scored 13 kills at a Liberty Arena-record hitting percentage of .867. Madison Hill collected 11 digs and served up six aces, while Kaya Weaver posted a match-high five blocks.
- Kate Gammer registered her fifth straight double-double for the Lady Flames, 11th of the season and 35th career. Gammer totaled 14 kills and 12 digs. Kamryn Bacus sent down 12 kills, while Erica Lowery collected a match-high 14 digs. Elizabeth Helmich registered nine kills and four blocks, while Madison Blane posted four blocks. Charli Crowson led Liberty with 17 assists and three aces.
- The teams traded set victories to start the match and headed to intermission tied at 1-1. UTEP served up five aces during the third set, pulling away late for a 25-21 victory.
- The Miners led set four from 2-1 on, clinching the match by winning 25-20.Â
- UTEP has won all four matches in the all-time volleyball series with Liberty, including both which have taken place inside Liberty Arena.
- Tonight's attendance of 1,080 was Liberty's second-largest home crowd this season, trailing only 1,174 on Sept. 13 against Virginia.
- Liberty is 9-14 this season in sets decided by two points.
- Gammer is now in 13th place all-time at Liberty with 1,160 career kills. She passed both Casey Goodwin (2016-19) and Karyl Bacon (2007-10) tonight. Gammer needs 90 more digs to become the 11th player in program history with 1,000 career kills and 1,000 career digs.
- Blane is now in sole possession of fourth place in program history with 427 career blocks.
- Today was the 10th time this season and 34th time in their careers that Gammer and Bacus have scored 10 or more kills in the same match. Liberty is 25-9 in those matches.
- Gammer is the first Lady Flame with five consecutive double-doubles since Leah Clayton, Oct. 8-21, 2016.
