Lady Flames Post 2nd Straight Sweep of Lions

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Liberty recorded its second sweep over North Alabama in as many days, downing the Lions in three sets (28-26, 25-14, 25-17), Friday at Liberty Arena.
The Lady Flames (8-4) have own four matches in a row, while the Lions (10-3) have lost three straight contests after starting the season at 10-0.

The Lady Flames open Conference USA play next weekend, hosting Middle Tennessee on Friday (7 p.m.) and Saturday (1 p.m.) at Liberty Arena.

Notable Numbers
- Liberty outhit UNA .202-.082 for the match. The Lady Flames led in aces (7-0), digs (64-56) and blocks (10-6).
- Carly O'Brien led Liberty with 11 kills, adding three aces and eight digs. Setters Alison Bierwagen (17 assists, 19 digs) and Charli Crowson (12 assists, 10 digs) both recorded double-doubles. Molly Littlefield collected 13 digs, while Melis Ural totaled 12 digs. Laney Daniell registered a match-high six blocks, while Jenna Otts and Paige Overcash both scored eight kills. - Liberty trailed by as many as seven points in set one, 16-9, before battling ahead at 24-23. North Alabama responded, gaining set point tries at 25-24 and again at 26-25. O'Brien tied it with a kill before serving up an ace. A North Alabama error gave Liberty the 28-26 win.
- The Lady Flames took control for the rest of the match, winning sets two and three by a combined 19 points.
- Liberty leads North Alabama 13-0 all-time in volleyball, as the Lions are the Lady Flames' most frequent opponent which they have not lost to, trailed by Hampton (10-0).
