Following a career performance at the Ka'anapali Classic Collegiate Invitational, Liberty's Ike Joy has been selected the CUSA Men's Golfer of the Week.
The senior capped Liberty's final event of the fall schedule by carding a 14-under par 199 (68-65-66) following three trips around the Ka'anapali Golf Club - Royal Ka'anapali Course (par 71, 6,700 yards) in Lahaina, Maui, Hawaii, on Monday.
The 14-under par 199 score allowed the redshirt junior to share fourth place in the 123-man field. The score was the second-best 54-hole total in program history, falling one shot short of Jonathan Yaun's 18-under par 198 (68-63-67) at the 2023 ASUN Men's Golf Championship.
The native of Denver, N.C., finished the fall tournament with his first career top-five placement. He led the field with 20 birdies and ranked second in the field in par-3 (2.75) and par-5 (3.89) scoring.
Overall, the Flames finished the Hawaii hosted tournament tied for ninth place with a 26-under par 826 (275-277-274). Liberty fired its best round of the event on Monday, closing the tournament with a 10-under par 274.
The Flames will have the next three months to prepare for the spring portion of their 2024-25 schedule. Liberty returns to the golf course on February 15 for the 2025 Gator Invitational, hosted by Florida at the Mark Bostick Golf Course in Gainesville, Fla.
