The Liberty softball team will compete in the prestigious Shriner's Children's Clearwater Invitational, one of the highlights of the team's 2025 schedule. The Lady Flames, under the direction of 12-year head coach Dot Richardson, will meet a challenging schedule in 2025.
Liberty will face two Women's College World Series teams from last year: Alabama and Duke. The Lady Flames will also take on 2024 Super Regional participant Missouri, 2024 Regional finalists Auburn and Virginia Tech and Regional teams Charlotte, Cleveland State, UCF and Virginia. All told, Liberty will face nine teams which competed in the 2024 NCAA Division I Softball Championship.
Among Liberty's 2025 opponents, Duke (7), Alabama (8), Missouri (11) and Virginia Tech all appeared in the final 2024 NFCA National poll. Liberty faces eight teams that finished the 2023 season in the top 50 in RPI, including five of the top 25.
Liberty will play half (28) of its 56 games at Liberty Softball Stadium, beginning with a 14-game homestand. The Liberty Softball Classic (Feb. 21-23) welcomes Charleston Southern, Saint Joseph's, Hofstra and Radford. The following weekend, Georgetown, Drexel, Appalachian State and Lehigh visit for the Liberty Softball Invitational, Feb. 28 through March 2. The Lady Flames also host strong Commonwealth opponents Virginia Tech (Feb. 26), James Madison (March 5), Longwood (March 26) and Virginia (April 8) throughout the season.

Liberty will also host UTEP (March 28-30), Middle Tennessee (April 4-6), Sam Houston (April 17-19) and FIU (May 2-4). Liberty opens the season on Feb. 7 against Radford, who is coached by Kevin Fagan, the father of Liberty associate head coach Kasey Fagan and assistant coach Sami Fagan. The team will also take on Louisville, Cleveland State and Rutgers (twice) while in Leesburg.
Following a midweek game at UCF, Liberty will compete in the Shriners Children's Clearwater Invitational in Clearwater, Fla., Feb. 14-16. It will be Liberty's second trip to the event, hosted by ESPN (also 2020), with all games appearing on ESPN platforms and the possibility of linear broadcasts.
