LYNCHBURG, Va. – A point guard from Barcelona, Spain, Emma Leon has signed with the Liberty women's basketball program for the 2025-26 academic year.
She follows in the footsteps of Claudia Acin and Anna Badosa, a pair of current Liberty point guards who also hail from Spain.
Leon completes Liberty's early signing class, which also includes Sierra Maxwell.
Emma Leon (G, 5-4, Barcelona, Spain)
Leon, who attends Santa Pau Pifma, was part of a Club Joventut Badalona team which captured its league title, finished third in Catalonia and took sixth in Spain a year ago.
She helped Spain earn the silver medal at the 2023 U16 Women's European Championship, averaging 7.1 ppg and 1.7 apg during the tournament.
"I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to join Liberty University and play basketball as part of their program," Leon stated. "Thank you for believing in me and for this opportunity to pursue my academic and athletic goals at such a prestigious institution. I can't wait to start this new chapter and make the most of this experience."
What They're Saying about Emma Leon
"We are extremely excited to have Emma decide to join our program. She brings speed and explosive play to the game at the point guard position. Emma pushes the fast break with great court vision to find the open teammate. Fundamentally, she is excellent at decision making while penetrating to the basket. She possesses great ball handling skills as well as the ability to hit the deep three-pointer consistently. Her international experiences are a welcome addition to our team."
Carey Green, Liberty Women's Basketball Head Coach
"Emma has shown magic on the court during her time on our team. I am confident that she will continue to grow and evolve as a player as she undertakes a new adventure and faces new challenges in America next season."
