LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Liberty women's soccer team and head coach Lang Wedemeyer have announced the signings of three freshmen, Keely Eslinger, Lauren Flax and Brooklyn Jenkins for the 2025 freshman class.
"Although a smaller class this year, these young women possess some incredibly valuable aspects to their games that will fit right in with our competitive team," Wedemeyer said. "Best of all, they possess a strong faith that will allow for wonderful assimilation into our culture, and they will be wonderful Champions for Christ."
The 2025 signing class consists of one local addition in Jenkins, while Eslinger (Tenn.) and Flax (Ohio) sign from out-of-state.
Keely Eslinger | Midfielder | Chattanooga, Tenn.
Eslinger is a midfielder from Midlothian High School where she played for two years under head coach Brandon Flowers. She helped lead her team to become district and regional title in 2024. She guided her team to its first-ever appearance in the State Final Four.
"Keely is an amazing athlete with a competitor's heart. She is just now scratching the surface with the potential she has," Wedemeyer said. "She is a versatile player who can play almost anywhere on the field. Her grit and intensity will be of great value to our program."
She most recently played for ECNL's Richmond Kickers and has also played for FC Richmond (2021-23) where she was selected as the WAGS Showcase Player of the Game multiple times. In 2022, she traveled abroad to Belgium to compete internationally. In club play, Eslinger has played at all positions outside of goalkeeper.
Eslinger comes from an athletic family, including her father, Heath, a former Division I wrestler and former head coach at Chattanooga and her sister, Brooke, who plays volleyball at Missouri State.
Lauren Flax | Forward | Cincinnati, Ohio
Flax is a forward who attends Miami Valley Christian Academy. She also played Anderson High School under head coach Andy Boyd. In the 2024 season, she scored over 30 goals and over 20 assists, leading her team to an 18-1 season. Flax was selected as the All-Conference Offensive Player of the Year and was named the D2 Player of the Year in Ohio.
"Lauren is an incredibly dynamic midfielder who can slice her way through the best defenders," Wedemeyer said. "She possesses great vision and awareness to see the best passes to unlock defenses. She is a tireless worker on both sides of the ball."
She has played for three club teams, including Kings Hammer FC's ECNL and USLW teams along with playing for the CUP Girls Academy. With Kings Hammer ECNL, she tallied over 15 goals and over 10 assists in one season.
Brooklyn Jenkins | Forward | Lynchburg, Va.
Jenkins attends Liberty Christian Academy where she was a two-time team captain playing under head coach Jenice Bennett. She was named her team's MVP in 2023 and has been named the team's Offensive MVP twice. Jenkins has been awarded first team All-District honors twice and received All-Region honors as a junior.
"I have been watching Brooklyn play for some time now, and her growth in her attacking mindset and skill acquisition has been off the charts," Wedemeyer said. "She has the capability of being a game changer with her speed, strength, and athleticism. She can post up or run in behind to score goals.
She has played club soccer for Skyline Elite for three years. Jenkins is a multi-sport athlete, participating in basketball and track & field at Liberty Christian Academy. She was a two-time Defensive MVP for her basketball teams and is a two-time state champion in indoor track and owns the state record for fastest split in a 4x400 (57.7).
