EDWARDSVILLE, ILL. – The No. 5 seed Incarnate Word Cardinals defeated the No. 4 seed Liberty Flames 2-0 in the Ohio Valley Conference Quarterfinals Sunday at Ralph Korte Stadium.
Incarnate Word jumped out to a 2-0 lead on first-half goals by Sello Diphoko and Emmanuel Martinez and then held off Liberty's pressure attack in the second half for the victory.
Liberty finishes the year with a 7-7-3 record. UIW moves to 6-5-6 on the season and advances to play No. 1 SIUE Wednesday in an OVC semifinal match.
