
Lady Flames Fall to NM State in Straight Sets

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - Liberty senior Erica Lowery collected her 1,000th career dig, but the Lady Flames were unable to overcome New Mexico State, falling in straight sets (25-20, 25-21, 25-15), Friday at the Pan American Center.
NM State improves to 13-10, 7-4 in Conference USA with their third win overall (all sweeps), extending its home winning streak to seven matches. Liberty (11-10, 5-4) is 1-4 in its last five matches after starting out CUSA play with a 4-0 record.

Notable Numbers
- The Aggies outhit the Lady Flames, .370-.130, with NM State's .370 being the highest hitting percentage by a Liberty opponent so far this season. The hosts also led in kills (42-35), assists (37-28), aces (5-3), digs (45-35) and blocks (5-2).
- Yasso Ammin scored a match-high 12 kills on 16 attempts (.750) for New Mexico State, followed by 10 kills (.429) from Starr Williams. Mari Sharp totaled nine kills and nine digs, while Makayla Martinez served up a match-high three aces. Nicole Briggs led all players with three blocks.
- Liberty's Kate Gammer posted her 10th straight double-digit kill match, scoring a match-high 17 kills. Charli Crowson dished out a match-best 17 assists, while Erica Lowery led all players with 19 digs.
- Liberty built identical 8-4 leads to start each of the first two sets before New Mexico State rallied to take control. The Aggies ended set one on a 4-0 run to win 25-20. They then led the second set 24-19 before Liberty narrowed the gap on kills by Elizabeth Helmich and Kamryn Bacus, before the hosts won the set 25-21.
- New Mexico State leads the all-time series against Liberty, 3-1, including 2-1 during the last two years as Conference USA opponents.
- Liberty is making its first appearance in New Mexico.
- Lowery is the first Lady Flame since Margaret Latchford versus VCU, Sept. 12, 2017, to collect her 1,000th career dig in a Liberty uniform. The senior has collected 1,001 career digs between her time at Texas A&M (2020-21) and Liberty (2022-present). A vast majority (965) of her career digs have come during her time at Liberty.
- Lowery also extended her streak of consecutive 10-dig matches to 10.
- Gammer's current streak of 10 consecutive matches with 10 or more kills is the most by a Lady Flame since Kamryn Bacus' 12-match double-digit kill streak, which occurred over the final four matches of 2022 and the first eight contests of the 2023 campaign.
- Gammer passed Chelaine McCarty (2007-09) into 16th place in program history with 1,069 career kills.
