LYNCHBURG, Va. – Liberty lacrosse has announced its 2025 spring schedule, highlighted by hosting the Atlantic Sun Women's Lacrosse Championship for the first time in program history.
The Lady Flames open the season on the road at Virginia on Feb. 7 and make their home debut against North Carolina on Feb. 9.
Liberty is set to host the 2025 Atlantic Sun Women's Lacrosse Championship on May 1 and 3. Liberty has hosted two postseason contests but will be the host of the championship tournament for the first time. As members of the Big South, The Lady Flames hosted Gardner-Webb in April 2015 (21-4 victory) and welcomed Longwood in April 2017 (20-13 triumph).
The 2025 schedule consists of four teams that finished the 2024 season ranked in the final IWLCA Coaches Poll, including No. 10 Virginia, No. 16 James Madison, No. 19 UNC and No. 25 Richmond and five that reached the NCAA Tournament, including Coastal Carolina.
Liberty will face five in-state programs: No. 10 Virginia, VCU, No. 25 Richmond, Longwood and No. 16 JMU.
Liberty's 2025 opponents combined for a 144-131 record in 2024, good for a .524 winning percentage. Of the Lady Flames' regular season opponents this year, nine finished with at least nine wins and a winning percentage of .500 or better in 2024.
The Liberty Lacrosse Field will host eight contests with stretches of four consecutive home games (Feb. 26-March 8) and three straight home contests (April 6-April 12). Liberty prepares for nine road games, including a stretch of four consecutive trips from March 12-April 1.
First-year program USF visits Liberty on April 6.
Liberty will face 12 familiar opponents from last season, including six ASUN opponents. Liberty was 5-7 (3-3 ASUN) in games against programs they will be facing this season.
The Lady Flames look to build on a 6-12 (3-3 ASUN) 2024 season that came to an end in the ASUN Championship semifinals, a 10-9 loss to No. 1 seed and tournament host Jacksonville.
