RUSTON, La. – Liberty utilized a pair of second-half goals from Ivy Garner to push past Louisiana Tech, 2-0 on the road Sunday. The Lady Flames (12-1-3, 4-1-1 CUSA) secured a 2-0 road trip with the triumph over the Bulldogs (2-7-5, 0-4-2) Sunday afternoon.
The two teams played to a scoreless first half despite Liberty unleashing multiple chances in the first 20 minutes of the contest. Liberty opened the scoring just after the first half with Ivy Garner netting her sixth of the season in the 47' minute. Halle Engle sent a precise pass to Garner who stopped the ball with one touch at the top of the 6-yard box and sent the score to the near post.
Garner secured her second goal of the game and her fifth in the past four games just five minutes later in the 52' minute. The junior beat the defense by charging a bouncing ball through the midfield. Garner sent a shot just out of reach of the Bulldog's extended leg into the center of the net.
Liberty gains three points in the Conference USA standings with the victory, now holding second place with 13 points.
